April 8, 2014 Session for Tulip and Remy - two sweetheart Boxer pups!

Tulip and Remy are two very sweet Boxer pups who have the nicest furkid "parents!"  Tulip is the older sister (with the all brown face) and Remy is a fast-growing youngster (he has more black on his muzzle).  Their Daddy is in the military and he and his sweetheart wife will be traveling overseas for two years.  They didn't want to put the pups through the trauma of flying that far of a distance, considering the potential dangers to pups with smushy face schnozzes.  Just too worrisome to even consider, though it makes them very sad to not be with their puppers.  They will be staying with their "Grandma" by the ocean in Florida, and will be very well loved.  We always need to make decisions based on what's best for our furkids, even though it can make us sad.

The pups were having some issues with the transition, understandably so.  They love their Mama and Daddy very much and were sad and confused, which gave rise to some behavioral issues.  Tulip is such a sensitive soul, that it about broke my heart to hear how sad she was feeling.  She felt abandoned and worried that she wasn't going to see her Mama and Daddy again.  Remy was acting out - letting loose since Alpha Daddy and Mama weren't there to rein him in.  He was barking up a storm in the house, in his crate, wherever he felt like barking and just being a wild hooligan.

When I checked in with them, Tulip was so heavy-hearted and somewhat inconsolable with missing her parents it made my eyes teary.  I made sure she knew that she wasn't being abandoned, that Mama and Daddy miss her as much as she misses them and that they would check in often via Skype or FaceTime to talk to her.  I asked her to help keep her brother in line at Grandma's house, since she was the big sister!  I also let her know that she has a special guardian angel there to comfort and protect her while her parents are away. When I checked in with her a couple days later, I kept seeing her put her forehead to mine and she felt much calmer.  I wish I could give her a big hug!

When I checked in with Remy, he was all over the place - showing me a cat that has black and white on it, baby bunnies, the beach...it was like talking to a wild ping pong ball! :)  I asked him to really step up, be a big pup,  to be aware of his surroundings and only bark when there's a problem or bad person. He felt very needy (though he would never admit it), so I asked Remy's Mom to have Grandma give him extra love.  I asked angels to be with Remy too, so he would have comfort 24/7 and he was VERY excited about that...though he kept thinking "chase!" Ah, puppy brain!  :D

It was such an honor working with these two, can't wait to hear about their adventures in Florida!

Follow-up to Patches, Samba and Hawkeye's Session!

So honored to connect to this trio! <3

I was blessed to have Joyce Ann do a long-distance Reiki session with my dogs . We have three. Patches, at 15, is completely deaf now and has trouble getting up and down stairs, but arthritis doesn’t stop her from eagerly participating in walks, and her appetite is as good as ever. As Joyce Ann found, her spirit is good. She reported some aches and pains, worried about not being able to hear intruders or other “bad” things and about being pushed out of her alpha status. She wants Samba, the other female, to succeed her as alpha dog when the time comes, not the young buck Hawkeye, who thinks he knows it all!

Samba, our sensitive one, told Joyce Ann that angels are around ‘Mom’ a lot – I’m not surprised that she can see them, even though I can’t.  She also sees herself as the keeper of peace in the household, which is true, and likes everyone to be calm and happy. Joyce Ann asked her to be more understanding of little people (Samba does not like children, to our sorrow). We don’t know yet how effective that will be, though a recent encounter with a young person – not a small child but an older one – was very encouraging.

Finally, Hawkeye had his turn. Joyce Ann sensed his high energy, very Jack Russell-like – he loves to play and will tease his sister mercilessly until she either agrees to play tag or jumps on him and wrestles him to the ground. He’ll submit to her superior strength, then come back and insist on more.

The sense I got from this session is that all three of them are quite content and secure.  We do become adept at reading our dogs’ signals and understanding their basic wants and needs, but we can never be sure what they are thinking since, for better or worse, dogs don’t share language with us. I feel now that I can relate more directly to how they see themselves: Patches, dignified but feisty; Samba, in breastplate and winged helmet; and strong, handsome Hawkeye.  Thank you, Joyce Ann, for this very special experience.

Follow-up from Elka the German Shepherd's Session

Testimonial from Elka's "stepmom" -  I love the Downton Abbey reference. :)

After she talked to our cats, I knew we needed JA to talk to our long-haired German Shepherd Elka. Elka is a very sensitive dog, who feels uncomfortable with change. I thought our upcoming move and combining households might be upsetting her, or maybe the problem was my dog-hating cat ... but whatever it was, she was upset and telling her to calm down only made things worse. It was clear something significant was bothering her and the problem was getting worse, but we had no way to tell what it was or reassure her.

JA plugged right in and found that there there were two main concerns ... one, my cat was indeed being very hostile, and the other was, she was afraid her closest companion animal was going to be left behind in the move and forgotten about. What a terrible feeling!

JA was able to reassure Elka her "sissy" would not be left behind in the move, and even somehow managed to convince my dog-hating cat to be a little kinder. Since our session, Elka has been visibly calmer, and there has been notably less hostility between cat and dog.

These things are wonderful in themselves ... household conflicts are not very fun for everyone. But at a richer, more subtle level, leaning about my pets this way exposed a whole world of interaction, preferences and personalities that are normally somewhat invisible ... kind of like the upstairs/downstairs divide in Downton Abbey!

From Elka's "stepmom" -

The problem is dear Elka, who is always been a very insecure dog. Lately she seems to be decompensating more, and she is a somewhat difficult dog to live with so this quickly creates a downward spiral where she feels disapproved of gets even unhappier. Anyway, something is "extra wrong" right now, and it might be the stress of her spending so much time around Chaplin, but my question is:

 -
is there something she can be reassured of to make her more comfortable?

 - is there something we can do (besides giving Chaplin to a circus) to help her feel safer?

She might be tapping into the move too and worrying about that ... I'm not sure ... I hate to see her suffering if we can resolve a misunderstanding ... Thank you lovie!!

Hey!  I just connected with that sweet soul Elka...I LOVE HER!  I want to hug her and smooch her and rub those ears. First and foremost, she is afraid you guys are forgetting about her sister, Zu.  She knows that a move is coming up and she is nervous about the changes.  She thinks that you'll somehow forget Zu.

She likes Dolly (one of Miss Blake’s kitties) and that she's no nonsense.  Chaplin (another of Miss Blake’s kitties) is "snobby" and makes fun of her sometimes - she’s too sensitive and a crybaby according to Chaplin.  I told her that maybe Chaps misses "his" dogs....and to give him time and kill him with kindness. She calls Glenn "Papa" and you're Miss Blake.

I asked an angel to keep her company and that the angel was for her to "talk" to when she gets worried or nervous and she said Papa is an angel too!  But I told her that this angel was for when Papa wasn't around her or was traveling.

She is such a gentle sensitive pup Blake.  She just wants to be told what the plan is, how things are going to happen so she can process it.  She feels good health-wise, so I think it's more of an anxiety issue.  Maybe pick up some rescue remedy drops for dogs and give her some on a treat when she gets anxious?

Remind her that she is loved, that the family isn't going to be split up, but her pack is just getting bigger!  And that no matter what, Papa loves her with all his heart.  If you're going to go out to meditate or do some earthing, take her with you.  It will be good for you guys to bond more too.  Such a sweet soul, it makes me teary eyed!

I sent healing and peace from her beautiful schnoz all the way to the tip of her tail.  What an honor to talk to her.  I told her that we're always connected now and to just reach out if she needs me. I'll check in with Chaps in a bit and tell him to stop being a jerk to her. And Abby pup helped - if Elka needs a doggie ear, just tell her to reach out to Abbsters!

Reiki Session for Patches, Samba and Hawkeye!

Barbara asked me to check in with her three pups to see how they were doing in general and to see what her Rottie mix pup, Samba, had to say specifically about her interactions with kiddos.  FYI, I like to have the bare minimum before connecting - names and photos - so the experience isn't altered by what I've been told.

What they had to say....

I just tuned in to them....Hawkeye was clambering to be heard first, but I told him to wait his turn!

Patches has some aches and pains, old age....but her spirit is good. The winter is tougher - she misses being really active like when she was young. She worries that she will miss something going on at the house - an intruder or something "bad" that she can't hear. She does not want him (Hawkeye) to push her out of Alpha status.  She just snorted when I told her that I asked angels, fairies and unicorns were assisting with the Reiki...she's not so sure there are unicorns, haha!  Love and dignity are important to her....she kind of reminds me of you that way - elegant, but feisty!   Maybe next time they go to the vet, ask about something that you can use if her joints bother her - cosequin or something like that? She also said when it's her time that Samba is next in command - not the young one. He has a lot to learn!

Okay - lets see what Samba has to say......

Samba said she might be a mix of breeds, but she is glorious and she is the keeper of peace at the house. I saw her dressed up like the opera character with the horns and breastplate????  She's ready for summer and the boat.  She really has this chill, calm vibe.  "Well of course there are angels! They are around Mom a lot!" Yes, she has an issue with children because they are not "sensible" - when they run around being wild (being kids), she wants them to calm down - nips and snaps to her are just a way of showing who's in charge and since they're pups they're not in charge! On leash socialization with young kids may help - but her loyalties and priorities are protecting you guys and the home.  She doesn't *dislike* kids, but she really doesn't like it when they don't follow the rules (whatever dog rules they may be), and I just got a head tilt when I said what about if the kids are on their own property?  This may be be challenging because she doesn't think she's doing anything wrong.  So when she’s on the porch barking at the kids it is the dog equivalent of "get offa my lawn!" She likes calm....kiddos are not calm.....though she's not enthused about meeting the kids...she's a grown up and wants to be around grown ups!  Boy does she have a stubborn streak.  Oof - I asked her to try to be more understanding of the "puppies/kids" on the other property...that it was important to you. Not sure how effective it will be - just really pile on the positive reinforcement when she doesn't bark at them (but does bark appropriately when someone pulls in the drive)......

Reached out to Hawkeye "I'M HERE! I'M HERE! HERE I AM!"

He says he's strong and handsome! And there's so much to do!!!  I know he's not, but holy cow he feels like a Jack Russell type energy!  Tangential thinker, very smart.  I told him that his name is the same as one of my favorite comic book characters and he was pleased, haha!  He feels good, doesn't seem to have any complaints...gets impatient with his sisters getting impatient with him?  I guess he barks at Patches a lot… he needs to respect his elders!  He wants to make sure you make time to play with Hawkeye...you know how boys are!

Okay - Reiki sent for all three for any healing they need from tips of nose to tips of tails.  I love the motley mix you have.  Thank you for letting me talk to your pups!
